What is Oktoberfest music?

Like for every other party or festival, music is very important for a good atmosphere. Oktoberfest music is a mix of traditional folk music from a brass band, well-known international songs, so called Schlager  and as well modern music which is played in the radio.
Every year the band plays a mix of new and old hits. And every year there is one or two new hits which are played all the time and will become part of the hall of fame.

Oktoberfest MusicParade of the waitresses and landords of the tents. It starts around 10:50 a.m. and traditional gun clubs start around 9:45 a.m.

Even if you arrive in the morning the atmosphere is already magnificant. People are dancing to the  music on ale-banches (it is not allowed to dance on the table), swinging, linking arms and bumping beer mugs.

Before a break, the brass band always join in a drinking song like “ein Prosit der Gemütlichkeit”.

These songs make it quite easy for everybody join in singing and dancing.

Lets join in “Heut ist so ein schöner Tag! lalalalala” and finish it with “Ein Prosit, Ein Prosit…”

When do they play which music?

Most tents play only brass music till 6 p.m. During the weekend and public holiday many tents already start earlier with the party music. Afterwards they mix the party music and the classical brass music.
